Request
We needed to completely redesign the site to adhere to new brand guidance provided by the client. We also wanted to build the entire site in a modular fashion so we could create a custom user flow based on each consumer’s healthcare plan and available options.
Another challenge was that certain offers within those modules were only available during specific enrollment periods. We needed to build a site that could take many different forms while still feeling cohesive, regardless of which content or offers were available at any given time.
Compliance with federal partners was also extremely important. Even a small error could potentially mean a consumer receives incorrect plan coverage or that the experience is subject to review by Medicare.

The Action
Starting from the ground up, I applied the new style guide beginning with primary and secondary button states and then built out all the foundational elements needed for a cohesive homepage and subsequent user flows. I gathered photography assets and categorized which images worked best with specific types of content.
As I created each section, I applied an overall visual system that allowed secondary sections to stack and modular pages to be built out for testing. When all was said and done, we had the ability to create personalized user flows while maintaining a consistent core look and feel. The UX/UI system stayed cohesive across all enrollment periods while also meeting ADA accessibility requirements.

Highlights
We were able to receive compliance approval from our federal partners and launch the site on time and under budget, which made everyone very pleased with the outcome. Based on the success of the site, we were then able to take on a dynamic banner project that directed users back to the experience.
Because we had become so familiar with the client, their regulatory requirements, and their internal approval process, we were already set up for success when the next project came in.
